Humanitarian and Development Projects
SRSP has been involved in oversight and management of more than 80 diversified humanitarian aid, rehabilitation and long-term development projects/programmes worth approx. PKR. 17 billion supported by PPAF, UN Agencies, INGOs, Government and other philanthropists. To deliver these projects effectively and efficiently, SRSP’s humanitarian wing devised a strong coordination mechanism with key stakeholders. The programmes at present have its presence in all merged districts.
SRSP partnered with UNHCR in one of the largest repartriation missions. This 9 year partnership saw over 600,000 families benefiting from need based multiple interventions. The financial outlay of SRSP-UNHCR partnership was PKR. 3 billion to support mentioned families in camps, hosting communities, place of origin and after their return to respective villages
Paradigm Shift Humanitarian to Development
Currently with the folding humanitarian operations in KP and the event of newly merged districts (NMD), there is a dynamic shift being undertaken from relief to recovery and rehabilitation projects and programmes. UNHCR TDPs programme that had solely based on humanitarian aid had winded up, while the rest of the donors have extended the partnerships into the rehabilitation and development initiatives. SRSP is engaged with partners such as EU, KFW, UNDP, UNICEF, WFP and PATRIP Foundation in the TDPs returning areas for the restoration of livelihoods and infrastructures in coordination and collaboration of government. Some of the projects are mentioned here.
PATRIP foundation has been supporting SRSP in multiple projects specifically in border districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and tribal districts. SRSP values this partnership as PATRIP foundation has been supporting poorest communities in most isolated, far flung and resource poor areas e.g. Arandu, district Chitral or border areas in tribal district Kurram, Orakzai, and Bajuar. With financial outlay of EUR 6.6 million, these projects will boost local economy, connect communities, improve health and education and support livelihoods.
